What's the deal with monitor fees?

Out of all the computer components, the monitor is the most hazardous, and contains multiple toxic chemicals such as Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead. The monitor fee offsets our cost to properly and responsibly dispose of monitors. Working monitors are used for donated systems. The monitor fee is possibly tax deductible (please check with your tax preparer.)

The monitor fees also help pay for (low or no cost) publicly offered technology programs, and day to day business expenses.

All monitors are assessed a $15 per monitor fee, working or not, no exceptions.
